From humble beginnings to becoming a global leader in Space Management, witness our 45+ years journey of how we achieved it all!
Our story didn’t start with partitions or doors. In the late 70s, Gibca was a trading company, supplying construction materials which gave us resilience, strong networks, and the foundation that would later carry Gibca Furniture forward.
By 1988, we decided it was time to branch out. Gibca Furniture opened its doors, focusing entirely on furniture. While Gibca Trading handled materials, the new company was ready to explore, grow, and take risks, setting the stage for everything that came after.
By 1990, we were no longer just trading, we were creating. HPL lockers, toilet cubicles, IPS units, and outdoor furniture became our first manufactured products giving us the confidence to tackle bigger challenges. These early projects became the pillars on which our future innovations would stand.
Then came 1992, a year that changed everything. Gibca signed an agreement with Hufcor to distribute their 5000 series partitions in the UAE. What began as a simple collaboration quickly became a defining relationship, opening doors to a world of possibilities in space management and paving the way for Gibca to become a trusted name in the industry.
By 1998, we were ready to go all in. Our factory expanded, production capabilities grew, and manufacturing became the heart of Gibca Furniture. We didn’t just want to distribute solutions anymore, we wanted to make them ourselves, with precision and quality being at the forefront and commitment to setting new benchmarks.
To align our operations and streamline growth, we merged with Gibca Trading and under the Gibca Furniture banner we started solely focusing on space management solutions. One name, one vision, one unified force ready to take on bigger challenges and push into new markets.
With the foundation set and Hufcor’s 5000 and 7000 series well established, we added Glasswalls to our portfolio which were sleek, modern, and highly functional as they fit perfectly with our growing reputation for innovative, high-quality space solutions.
The market was evolving, and so were we. In 2004, we took a bold step into automated partitions, a niche product at the time that had huge potential. Investing in automation gave us an edge, and our early commitment meant Gibca became a trendsetter and willing to take bold risks.
With a talented R&D team on board, we launched Gibca’s own range of office partition systems. Acoustic ratings, thoughtful design, and superior engineering set our products apart and now we weren’t just distributing anymore, we were creating solutions that were in demand.
With our UAE market strong, 2010 marked our first step beyond borders. Fully in-house manufactured products began reaching other Middle Eastern countries, and Gibca started making its mark as a regional leader in space management.
Once the Middle East foothold was secure, we turned our attention to Africa and Asia, two regions booming with rapid development. These markets tested our agility, pushed our capabilities, and expanded Gibca’s influence to new heights.
Europe became the next target. From the Middle East to Africa, Asia, and now Europe, our solutions were crossing continents, proving that Gibca furniture could compete and thrive on a global scale.
This year marked the foundation of one of our most successful ranges - the Hufcor 600 series operable partitions. Their demand was instant and have defined standards as they continue to be the benchmark of quality for clients expectations from Gibca furniture’s solutions.
By 2017, 13mm HPL panels became the industry standard, however we felt that there was a gap in the market as 13mm panels offered no customization, concealed hinges, durability and no flexibility. We wanted to do more and that's when we launched sandwich panels for our cubicles which were stronger, customizable and tailored to truly set a new benchmark in the market.
Europe was embracing big entrances and pivot doors, and we were ready. In 2018, we introduced Manual and Automatic Pivot Doors reaching up to 4 meters in height. With our R&D team and manufacturing expertise, we were ahead of the trend — bringing innovation that transformed spaces in the UAE.
Before sustainability became a buzzword, we had already started making it part of our operations. Securing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, we embedded a commitment to a cleaner, smarter future into every corner of Gibca’s business.
The pandemic challenged every business. Projects stalled, shipments delayed, uncertainty loomed. But instead of pausing, we innovated. Touchless cubicles for hotels, malls, and public spaces emerged from our R&D — a simple hand gesture making spaces safer and more convenient. By year’s end, we had not just survived, but thrived.
2023 was a year of bold moves. We acquired Hufcor’s intellectual property, bringing its legacy and expertise fully under Gibca’s wing. The acquisition strengthened our product portfolio and global presence. We also partnered with Kwik Wall in the US, opening up exciting new opportunities and expanding Gibca’s reach to one of the largest markets in the world.
We didn’t stop there. Distributorships in Australia & New Zealand, along with select Central American countries expanded Gibca’s international footprint further. Each partnership was a step toward making our solutions accessible to clients around the globe.
This year, we secured FSC certification across our entire range, underscoring our commitment to sustainability and healthier spaces. At the same time, we pushed acoustic testing for our partitions even further, quietly working on innovations that will continue to raise the bar for what Gibca can deliver.
